eLearning CE: Activity 3 - Samuel Ong (15)

Leader : Barrack Obama

He possess a good mouth as he is able to speak well and confidently in front of large crowds and his talks are always very persuasive . This is probably why he is the President of The United States of America .

Although many people were against him at first , he faced every situation with lots of courage and always rose to the occasion . He knows what he wants to talk about and how to go about achieving this result . He speaks with accurate English too . He is also responsible for the things he says . Like how he said that he would stop the war in Iraq .

In the world's economic crisis , he tried his best in helping the world improve the economy and he has clearly demonstrated all the traits of a leader .

eLearning CE:Activity 3 Daniel Chan(07)

I believe that a good leader should always have a listening ear,be it listening to others problems or when they want to state their opinions.A good leader must be responsible and not push the blame to others for his/her own mistakes.Good leaders have to be able to speak their mind and not be afraid, and also be able to inspire confidence in others and make them follow in their footsteps.A good leader is not one who sits on the chair of luxury and slave around others, telling them what to do for his own goals.A good leader would instead guide others towards their own goals, and also help them become good leaders themselves.

I think that a good leader would be able to remain clam no matter what kind of crisis is going on and with any kind of situation. He or she would be able to think things through carefully and decide the best possible course of action. However,a good leader would also know that he or she can rely on peers for help,be it their opinion on certain things or help for different projects.

What traits do a Leader possess?

A leader must have some of these traits in order to lead others. These traits are Communication Skills, Good Listener, have Confidence and finally, takes Responsibility and Ownership.

A leader needs good Communication Skills because he needs to convey his message to others. A leader has to be able to motivate others and this can be done by communicating with them. Furthermore, by communicating, a leader's peers would know what the leader expects and wants from them.

A leader has to be a Good Listener. Being a Good Listener would earn the leader respect from his/her peers, Being a Good Listener would help the leader earn trust from his peers. Listening to what your peers have to say about a certain project, such as giving ideas or problems about a certain solution, would help your progress and your peers would also listen to you.

A leader needs to have Confidence. This is most important. A leader cannot have a give-up attitude. Having Confidence in yourself would influence your peers around you to also have confidence in themselves to be able to complete a certain task. Having Confidence, your peers would believe that it is not the end. To have Confidence, you must keep calmed and know that you can eventually solve the problem.

At last,

A leader needs to have Responsibility and Ownership. This is also one of the most important traits that a leader must have. If a leader does not take Responsibility and Ownership for himself (His Actions/Work) and for his team members, it proves that he is not a successful/promising leader (Online). If a leader doesn't have Responsibility, a task would never get completed and without taking ownership for your actions, you'll not be respected or seen as a good leader by your peers.

How do you think a Good Leader manages crisis under stressful situations?

I think a Good Leader should remain calm and know that it is not the end yet, the world still continues spinning. A Good Leader can remain calm if he thinks positively like going to his happy place or simply know that there's a solution to every situation including this crisis.

After remaining calm, he/she could seek help from his peers or family members. He should not be afraid to lose face by asking someone who does not know much about your situation, because you'll never know that he/she that you asked may come up with a great idea or be an inspiration for you.

It's good to share your problem, of course with someone who cares, because it helps by letting out your frustration, but you have to refrain yourself from saying something that would harm the person who is willing to listen to your situation. Eventually, you'll be able to find a solution for your situation.

elearning CE: Activity 3 - Mirza (14)

Leaders have good traits such as being a good listener, responsibility, approachable, confidence, role modeling and a lot others. A leader that is a good listener would always listen to its follower's or friend's idea instead of all of them following the leader's idea without even asking them if the idea is a good thing or not. Being a responsible leader is to meet the expectations of the task like, its punctuality, deadlines, also, a leader has to do work too and not boss people around and tell them to do their work. Being a leader is to guide people to a certain goal that has been set, it is not to tell them what to do. Leaders should be a person that can be easily approachable and not someone who is hard to talk to. It is easier to give ideas or share problems to an approachable leader rather than someone that is not. Leaders also have to be confident at all times and not shy. A leader has to stand up for its group when something wrong happens. A good leader will always be a role model to others.

A good leader always remain calm when a crisis happens. They should think of a different way to tackle that problem. A leader should never panic and will calm their team mates down if they are in the state of panic.

Hi Blog!

I chose to talk about Martin Luther King Jr and about his leadership traits and how he handled periods of frustration:

Traits:

He challenged authority

Courage

Willingness to risk their lives for their goals

Making the people around him act

Morals

Showing the way

Handling frustration:

In his fight for racial balance, he did hit the hearts of all Afro-Americans but at one part of time, the practices going on for racial desegregation were not going so well and the success rate was only below 9%. He raised it to the Supreme Court where they ended up returning remedial power to each state. Going up to the Supreme Court and fighting for the case to pass also would have been a huge obstacle with already quite a frustrated mind.

After fighting and getting the law through, even after that the Afro-Americans did not give in a nice environment for education and there were many problems with that. Martin Luther King was obviously disappointed and did not want that to continue. He involved the parents so that something could be done and that would help the Afro-Americans.

He always thought of way that could help both parties compromise and understand. He showed the way of tackling problems and not making them worlds by quenching your anger on something.

Thank you,
Vivek
